Finding the Poem (1)
Occasionally it’s the other way round. Surprise! Something simple, delightful, or poignant moves you and unexpectedly, on its own, a line begins forming inside your head. Listening to its rhythm, you feel it tap into the meaningful and right. You stay open and another line forms. As your mind awakens, you snatch pen and paper to scribble down the next line and the next in their pristine flow. When the words fade into silence, on the page you discover a potential first draft of a poem.
Like gemstones uncut and unpolished, such poems are gifts from the Muse.
